Earthwizard's Realms of Faërie

The blood flows in passionate embrace by the grey sea waves...

			The Kraken King

	O, do not wake the Kraken's wrath!
	He sleeps still deep amid the briny blue
	far below the measured glow
	of sun and moon and stars above;
	his mind in dreams of Nereiads,
	the heaving breast sighing
	for lost love and darkest bliss;
	when Cassiopeia, Queen of Ethiopia,
	boasted strong of her daughter, Andromeda:
	beauty's queen indeed, she raised
	the Kraken from the deeps by triton
	blaring Poseidon's breath, addressing wrong
	until the famed warrior, Perseus,
	broke the writhing sea monster's gaze:
	the harpy blinded sea god fled in mazed
	abandon to his sunken lair, till doom
	shall wake him to the boiling waters
	of a sea gone mad, and Time's end is at hand;
	then shall he sport upon the frothing sea,
	blinded and old, born into the earth
	an ancient kin of ocean's god,
	broken and alone, tossed upon the shores
	of Midgard's final hour: to die, a King at last!
