	Desponia

	Be not afraid, dear maiden, for one comes
	who will defend thee against those dark forces
	that assail thee; a greater lord of terror,
	than the Death King in his dark lair
	has known of Love and Sleep.
	O for the mirror and the mask;
		      the dark serpent's gaze, the silence, and love's mysterious maze.

	One comes, doom blessed, by way of sun and moon,
	gorgon bound under Night's cursed gaze, wailing
	for the raven lord; this unseen guest arrives
	clothed in a warrior's steady ways, hieing
	to the North Wind's roaring blare, trumpeting.
	O for the mirror and the mask;
		      the dark serpent's gaze, the silence, and love's mysterious maze.

	Raising the weapons of war and victory, his eyes ablaze,
	sword and spear ready at hand for the black foe,
	he stands tall in his fierce pride, master of dark and light;
	poet, scholar, and warrior of the Land and Tribe.
		O for the mirror and the mask;
		      the dark serpent's gaze, the silence, and love's mysterious maze.

	Down below in the cold dark air, where amid the gloom
	and tomb of the living dead, he strides forth sure of his quest's outcome:
	Medusa's eyes catching glances in the dark, stone gods flaying with her serpent gaze;
	come at last to the Dark Lord's lair: his eyes freezing, in stone, amazed.
		O for the mirror and the mask;
		      the dark serpent's gaze, the silence, and love's mysterious maze.
