Earthwizard's Realms of Faërie

Life after life the circle is bright...

		The Bejeweled Toad

	Toad of venom, toad of death;
	ugly toady crowned in jewels:
	token caw of crows befriends
	the secret guest of all this scene:
	ashes of the tree of Hermes
	fills thee with the sweet Elixir;
	earth is gold, so is soul;
	elemental charge of Saturn find,
	if you would the Great Art know:
	Philosopher's stone to hold
	and keep with venom's bleeding
	heart, from cold and heat;
	for if the toad swells before
	the burst of sun and moon
	do rise within thy mind,
	then ruddy toads of wine
	shall find thee dead upon the vine;
	so cast off the broken thought
	of toads: beget a fiercer light
	take Basilisk, Azot, and Cocatrice to seed,
	ride Mercury's metallic essence, hieing
	in exuberance as limus deserti evacuates
	below the hidden darkness of your life;
	know the privy secrets, quintessence of all need:
	show forth in deed and thought
	the wit of alchemists past needing;
	and tell of Alchemy and ancient writ:
	practice hidden sorcery and magick black,
	and take the chilly toad, apply it to your foal,
	the breast of milk to take and drink, then wait
	till massive swelling growth of blackness
	sounds the depths, and make a noble medicine
	to drive from thee the poison of the human heart!
