	Bardic Lore

	I say, "Go down into the woods,
	walk along the brook's hidden paths, listen
	to the night owl and the grey wolf,
	see red fox and speckled fawn stepping
	lightly among the thorns and blackberries;
	watch the early seasons of the moon; touch
	the toadstools, wet in their mystery, red and yellow,
	wild and succulent in their power:
	some to visions of the Otherworld,
	others to death keeper's door of broken dreams;
	most of all, find the circle of power
	at the center of the deep woods:
	the magic doorway of the old oak trees,
	where the witches of old practiced their ancient craft:
	dancing the serpent dance of the moon,
	raising the white dragon of the sun,
	holding in their primal art the spells of love and doom:
	measuring out the destiny of proud kings,
	bringing to the pagani the blessings of bole and loom,
	weaving the web of light into a cone:
	releasing from the dark shadows of the mind
	the secret mystery of our immortal tribe: earth is alive!"
